Now that you have all had a chance to see the finalists in this year's NZ Post Children's Book Awards categories... it's time to vote! Click on the link below to get to the voting form, or vote as a class in library time this week.....
...and remember, one lucky person will win a prize of a $500 book voucher for themselves, and another one for their school library!
Michael Buckley, who wrote the NERDS series of books, has a great video on Youtube explaining how he writes and why. He is a very funny man, and if you haven't read the books, give them a try! Great for Year 4 readers and up, who like humour and crazy action.
(....Look out for the movie, starting production soon...)
The first week of the new term is a good time to come and spend some time with the NZ Post finalist books on our display.
They are all great books, and some of them are really creative and unusual. In a couple of weeks, you will get to vote for your favourite book - but in the meantime, here is Tina Matthews, the author of one of the picture book finalists, reading her story for us.
Who is Waldo? We know him by his other name, Wally, in our part of the world...and he is the star of some of our most popular, and constantly issued, library books.
Some American golf fans thought it would be fun to see him at the recently played Masters Golf Tournament in Augusta, USA. Click on the map below, and see if you can find him. He's pretty easy to find in some of the pictures...but not so easy in others.... how many can you do? Can you comment on this post and let everyone else know?
This week, we have some great new books for you to choose from.
For Andy Griffiths fans (of whom we have many!), here is his new book - just as crazy as his previous ones: THE 26-STOREY TREEHOUSE
..and the first book in a terrific new series for girls, (especially Year 3 and up) featuring Daisy; a clever and funny heroine who is always in trouble. Here is the beginning of the book for you to listen to. DAISY AND THE TROUBLE WITH LIFE
